Reduce, reuse, rebrand

March 2010

Upper Quartile websiteMcConville Wellburn wasted no time in getting down to delivering an updated brand identity for the Community Recycling Network for Scotland (CRNS), breathing new life into the logo and brand.

The new brand identity was launched at the CRNS 5th Annual Conference on the 17 March at the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel in Edinburgh. The old brand lacked consistency and was perceived as dated and needing to be refreshed. The new logo and identity updates and re-energises the public face of CRNS, infusing the brand with optimism and a positive outlook for the future.

“We love what McConville Wellburn have done with the CRNS logo. It’s bright and contemporary as well as practical and flexible,” says Susan Wright, media and communications manager at CRNS. “Not only that, it’s a pleasure working in partnership with John and Alan, using their expertise and creativity to help us take the CRNS brand into the future.”

Robust brand guidelines were produced by MW to outline the visual identity usage, messaging and to ensure consistency across all communications. MW has also delivered three more logo identities for the CRNS: for the organisation’s More Than Recycling and More Than Furniture conferences; and most recently for Pass it on Day - a new national day to celebrate and promote reuse that will take place on 5th June 2010.

“Our new logos reflect the positive nature of the CRNS and the work done by our members in community recycling and reuse,” says Susan. “They’re a big departure from what has gone before and have created a great buzz inside and outside of our organisation.”

CRNS is the membership body for community recycling and reuse organisations throughout Scotland. It provides information, advice and support to existing and emerging community recyclers.
